Fans of the Kingdom Hearts franchise now have a good excuse to replay through some of the first titles in the series, as Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, a remastered compilation exclusive to the PlayStation 3, hits North American stores today. The collection includes the original PlayStation 2 Kingdom Hearts game that kicked off the series, along with Re: Chain of Memories, which was itself a PlayStation 2 remake of a Game Boy Advance title that bridged the gap between the first two numbered entries. Also included is a collection of cutscenes from the DS title Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. All three titles come with high-definition makeovers and PS3 trophies.
The series chronicles the adventures of a teenage boy named Sora, who is given a mystical weapon known as the Keyblade and thrust into an adventure to save various worlds from an evil force known as the Heartless. In these titles, players can expect to visit worlds based on such classic Disney films as Aladdin, Peter Pan, Hercules, and The Little Mermaid, among many others. Numerous stars provide their voice talents for the characters, including Haley Joel Osment as Sora, Hayden Panettiere as his friend Kairi, Mandy Moore as Final Fantasy VII‘s Aerith, and many Disney character voices reprising their roles.
We will have a review of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX later this week. In the meantime, check out the launch trailer and some new screenshots below.
