Although Microsoft’s Kinect has yet to live up to its pre-release hype, it’s certainly allowed EA Sports’ FIFA 13 development team to add a whole new level of realism to its much-anticipated game. Thanks to the device’s voice integration, armchair footballers will be able to use their vocal chords to call out plays, change formations and make substitutions, which should reduce the need for slow options menus if it works. However, the most interesting facet of this new mechanic is how referees will be able to absorb the profanity-riddled rants that players will spew after poor calls, allowing them to be referenced during later calls.
See how it all works for yourself:
FIFA 13 will be released in North America on September 25.
