While no two Suda 51 games are exactly the same, there are a few common elements that his fans have come to expect from any project that he is involved with. The majority of the Japanese developer’s games tend to feature well-written and interesting dialog, heavily stylized graphics, and a story that contains a deeper (not always obvious) meaning. They are also usually a tad bit on the crazy side, and the latest trailer for Killer is Dead proves that it is no exception to that rule.
The new Killer is Dead trailer starts off innocently enough with the Brian Execution Firm’s newest assassin, Mondo Zappa, having a glass of wine and a “meaning of life” discussion with the company’s half-cyborg owner, Brian Roses. It is at that point where things take a turn for the strange, as we find out that someone has apparently stolen the Earth — we are still not sure exactly what that means, or how anyone would go about pulling off such an impressive feat.
At any rate, the trailer then shows several skyscrapers being attacked by giant aliens, Vivienne (Mondo’s boss) spawning fourteen arms from her torso (naturally, each one is holding its own gun), lots of insane combat scenes, and a mini game in which Mika pounds Mondo’s chest over and over to get his heart beating again.
Oh, and the news that next Killer is Dead trailer is going to be titled “Gigolo vs. Sexy Monster”, so there is that to look forward to.
Killer is Dead is currently scheduled to launch worldwide sometime this Summer on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. We will make sure to let you know as soon as XSEED Games nails down a more specific North American launch date.
