One of Sony‘s biggest shooter franchises is now without its creators. Ted Price, the CEO at Insomniac Games, has officially confirmed his studio’s intent to move on from its Resistance franchise. They will be pursuing other ventures instead.
This decision follows their September release of Resistance 3, which was a decent game overall, but one that we found to be lacking in some areas.
“We won’t be making any more Resistances,” Price replied to a question posed by VG247.
Insomniac is currently at work on Overstrike, which is a four-player co-operative shooter. It will follow in the footsteps of Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One, the four-player action/adventure game which the studio also released late last year.
Although its creators have moved on, the alien invasion series has not been terminated. Nihilistic Software is currently developing Resistance: Burning Skies, a PS Vita exclusive title, which is expected to become available this summer.
