Dennaton Games’ top-down, no-holds-barred shooter Hotline Miami will become available for both of Sony’s consoles on Tuesday, June 25th for North America – the game will be released in Europe the following day. This news comes hot on the heels of the studio announcing a sequel to the 2D game – Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number – following its continuous and deserved success since its PC debut in late 2012.

The studio confirmed that the game will be priced at $9.99, €8.99 or £7.29 when it hits the Playstation store. What’s more, Hotline Miami will support Sony’s cross-buy feature, which means after you buy said game on the Playstation 3, you can download the Vita version free of charge and vice versa. In addition to the original content, Playstation buyers will gain access to a brand new bull mask named Russell, which itself unlocks a black & white mode (save for the iconic red blood, mind you) when equipped.

Hotline Miami has earned its status as a cult hit in just under a year and it’s easy to see why. In the game, players will step into the visceral and alternative world of 1980’s Miami, in which peculiar voice messages lead your character from one intense crime to the next. Coupling a non-linear narrative together with a rambling, unreliable narrator gives Hotline Miami its engaging and mysterious atmosphere.

Like Grand Theft Auto: Vice City on steroids, the game is dripping with neon-tinted personality. The unique aesthetic and extreme violence resembles the Nicolas Winding Refn film Drive – which Hotline Miami pays tribute to in its closing credits – and Dennaton Game’s indie darling is equally surreal in its storytelling.

If you haven’t already hopped into Hotline Miami’s hyper-violent underworld, now seems as good as a time as any with the sequel due out later this year on PC platforms.  Tell us your thoughts on the game and whether or not you’ll be picking it up this Tuesday in the comments below.
