While Square Enix’s popular MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, is no stranger when it comes to delivering periodic updates with notable new features, the game has never had a full-on expansion released. That’s all set to change next year, though, as Heavensward, the first true expansion for the game, has just been announced at a keynote within the FFXIV Fan Festival in Las Vegas.
Heavensward won’t see a release until some time next Spring, but some early details have been dropped on what additions it will bring. The game’s level cap of 50 will be bumped up to 60, new jobs and a new playable race will be added, new primals will be added to battle against, and a new central location, the city of Ishgard, will also be incorporated into the game.
A brief teaser trailer for Heavensward can be viewed above, although, it only contains some admittedly nice-looking CG cutscenes instead of a look at the actual game. Since the expansion is less than a year away, though, fans probably won’t have to wait extremely long to get more details.
We will continue to keep you updated with more Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn news as it drops.
