Despite Microsoft’s reaffirmation, Halo 5 will not be released this year – according to the voice of Master Chief himself. Steve Downes, voice actor for the Spartan hero, also added fuel to rumors of a Halo 2 Anniversary remake, saying:
“I think you may be ahead of yourself on Halo 5, I wouldn’t expect anything until 2015. What you can look forward to this year is an anniversary edition of Halo 2.”
This contradicts Microsoft’s public stance on the series, with Senior PR Manager for the franchise, Rob Semsey, stating on Twitter in January:
Rest assured your next Halo journey WILL begin in 2014. #staycalm

The highly anticipated follow up to 2012’s Halo 4 was first revealed at E3 last year, though no official date or title for the game was given. However, with Halo 4 launching a new story trilogy, it’s logical to assume the upcoming Xbox One title will be the fifth main game in the series.
Halo 2 Anniversary rumors were first started by a NeoGaf user claiming to be a Microsoft insider. Apparently, a ‘War Collection’ version of the game will also include ports of Halo 3 and Halo 4 for the Xbox One – a rumor that is surely too good to be true.
Microsoft is no doubt saving an official announcement on Halo 5‘s release for E3 this year, so look forward to more teases and rumors as we get closer to June.
