A demo for PlayStation 4 exclusive Gravity Rush 2 will be available to download via the PlayStation Store tomorrow, Sony has announced.
Developer SIE Japan Studio’s project manager Nick Accordino states in the blog post that two different paths will be available for those that give the trial a play, one for those who are “new to Gravity Rush,” and another for those that are “more familiar with Kat’s powers.” As with the original game, Gravity Rush 2 sells itself on the unique gravity-controlling powers exhibited by protagonist Kat, with the feature expanded in the sequel to include three two new styles: Lunar and Jupiter.
Originally slated for an early December release in North America, director Keiichiro Toyama broke the disappointing news back in September that the whimsical action title needed to be pushed back until 2017 in order to put more time into online features that allow for “asynchronous player interaction.” Apologizing for the delay, Toyama said, “I would like to apologize to all those players anxiously awaiting Gravity Rush 2. After four years of development making a title we are very proud of, we want to release it at the very best time.”
Gravity Rush 2 is now pegged for a January 20 launch and, along with the demo, SIE aims to whet your appetite for the big day with a special animated short that bridges the gap between both games in the series. Produced by “famed anime studio Studio Khara,” Gravity Rush Overture will be available to watch via YouTube starting December 26 at 8am PST.
