It was business as usual in the UK all-format charts this week after Rockstar Games open-world behemoth Grand Theft Auto V held onto the top spot for the second consecutive week.
In doing so, the studio’s magnum opus comfortably saw off competition from two of the most notable contenders to the throne, FIFA 15 and Sledgehammer Games’ Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. As a matter of fact, sales for GTA V only dropped by 29% relative to last week, whereas FIFA 15 and Advanced Warfare sales dipped by 28% and 24%, respectively.
Here is the comprehensive top ten in full, as provided by UKIE.
1) Grand Theft Auto V
2) FIFA 15
3) Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
4) Far Cry 4
5) Minecraft: Xbox Edition
6) The Crew
7) Minecraft: PlayStation Edition
8) Assassin’s Creed: Unity
9) Destiny
10) Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham
As for the other entries this week, Ubisoft’s stalwarts continue to sell reasonably well, with Far Cry 4 and The Crew holding onto fourth and sixth. Speaking of which, the latter title is sandwiched between both console versions of Minecraft — namely the PlayStation and Xbox editions — because even in 2015, not enough people own Mojang’s monumental sandbox, which has since been acquired by Microsoft.
Rounding out this week’s standings are Assassin’s Creed: Unity, Destiny and LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. As for the chart anomalies, Skylanders-esque title Disney Infinity roared back into the top 40 thanks to heavy discounts across retailers; discounts that helped buoy sales by a staggering 250%.
Though these figures don’t into account digital sales, we can readily expect Grand Theft Auto V to enjoy another boon in sales when the sandbox title finally arrives on PC on March 24. Players who wish to pre-order the game ahead of time will be entitled to a free Rockstar game along with some in-game perks.
