We Got This Covered’s Best Games Of E3 2016

Year after year, E3 brings with it lots to get excited about, from previously unannounced surprises to demos of the next big thing. E3 2016 was no different in this respect, as there were a lot of great games made available for demonstration, not to mention some very exciting announcements.

1) The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

Thanks in part to my cousins, who owned both a Nintendo Entertainment System and a Super Nintendo Entertainment System before I did, The Legend of Zelda played a large role in my childhood. We spent many hours glued to A Link to the Past, in an effort to best its dungeons and boss battles, and I still faintly remember days where we played the first two Zelda games on NES.

To this day, Ocarina of Time still stands as my favourite game of all-time, and there hasn’t been a Zelda game that I’ve disliked. I have, however, been pining for the series’ next absolute masterpiece, and hope that it will come via The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Wii U and NX. There’s no denying that the potential is there, and after playing through both of its rather involved E3 demos, there’s no way I can avoid giving it my Game of Show award.

It’s been years since we’ve been able to get excited about an all-new The Legend of Zelda experience, let alone play one, and that showed whenever I looked at the incredibly long lines outside of Nintendo’s themed booth. The game was well worth its long wait, too, because (based on its available demos, at least) its mixture of The Legend of Zelda and Skyrim‘s type of open world gameplay acts as a genius and easy to grasp combination that should help propel the iconic franchise forward.

Now, here’s hoping that it won’t be long before we’ll be able to play through The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in its entirety.

Honourable mentions go to the following games: Spider-Man, God of War and NHL 17.
