Thinking about picking up a PlayStation 4 quite soon? You won’t be the only one – Sony have just come out with their current lifetime sales as of January 3, 2016, and the number to go along with it is rather large. Since release up until the aforementioned date, Sony have sold 35.9 million consoles.

Obviously, Sony are pretty chuffed with the numbers, and Sony’s president and global CEO Andrew House said as much as part of the announcement.

We are absolutely delighted that so many customers have selected PS4 as the best place to play throughout this holiday season and that the PS4 community is growing more than ever.

We remain steadfast in our commitment to deliver innovative entertainment experiences, and look forward to bringing an unprecedented games portfolio from third party developers and publishers and SCE Worldwide Studios, including Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Horizon Zero Dawn and The Last Guardian, this coming year.

Can Sony follow a successful 2015 with an even brighter 2016? Normally, we’d say it would be a tough to achieve, but with exclusives like No Man’s Sky, The Last Guardian and Horizon Zero Dawn all slated for release this year, the possibilities are endless.
