When Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure debuted late last year, it quickly became a phenomenon, and the buzz is still there. Its use of physical toys has turned many gamers into collectors, bent on securing every character released by Activision and Toys For Bob. Due to this incredible popularity and widespread, all-ages appeal, it was only a matter of time before a retailer decided to adopt a trade-in policy for used figures. The first one to implement such a system will apparently be GameStop, according to Pixelitis, who were able to secure internal company documents regarding the intriguing offer.
If you’re a collector, you’ve probably purchased a duplicate of at least one figure in an attempt to get them all. Considering that some characters are only available with others, it was bound to happen. Selling that extra toy through a local classified ad is probably your best bet, as always. However, it is said that GameStop will be offering two to eight dollars for each figure, depending on their rarity. The hardest ones to find will then sell (used) for up to $20.
As of right now, it is not known which stores will be adopting this Skylanders trade-in system, but keep checking back for more info. If anything comes up, we’ll let you know about it.
