Hot on the heels of Sony’s official announcement for PlayStation Plus yesterday is the Games with Gold offerings for June 2015, as revealed by Microsoft’s Larry Hryb.
In keeping with previous months, Xbox platforms will get a total of four games. For this month, Xbox One will be toplined by Double Fine’s turned-based strategy title Massive Chalice and Pool Nation FX. You may recall that the latter title was also part of the lineup for last month’s freebies, taking the sports simulator’s stint on the Games with Gold roster to three consecutive months. Both games will be available to download from June 1.
On the other hand, Xbox 360 will be getting a blockbuster pairing in the form of Just Cause 2 and Eidos Montreal’s Thief reboot. From Monday, players will have the opportunity to whet their appetite for the arrival of Avalanche’s Just Cause 3 by revisiting the acclaimed second installment in the open-world series. It will be accessible to Xbox Live Gold members right up until June 16, where Square Enix’s aforementioned stealth title will swoop in to take its place for the remainder of the month.
Understandably, it seems Xbox 360 owners got the better end of the bargain on this particular month, which is hardly surprising given that the older console has a bigger software library to fall back on. As for Microsoft’s current-gen system, reports had stipulated that the Redmond-based hardware giant would commemorate E3 by adding both Ryse: Son of Rome and Forza 5 to the collection, though it appears these launch titles will be reserved for a later date.
