With publishing help from SEGA, the creative minds behind Pokemon are readying their latest effort for digital release. Tembo the Badass Elephant, as it’s called, will debut on July 21st across Steam, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with an asking price of $14.99.
Developed by Game Freak, Tembo is advertised as a “larger than life 2D side-scrolling game,” featuring a main character who’s, “part commando and ALL elephant.” It’s a summary that certainly does its job of piquing one’s interest. After all, it’s not as if games starring elephants are the norm, let alone commando elephants.
Here’s more from its latest release:
TEMBO THE BADASS ELEPHANT features 18 action filled levels, packed with charm and cleverly designed platforming action all wrapped in a unique art style with a tongue-in-cheek humour that encapsulates classic console mascot games, with a nod towards 80’s action movies. Put simply, it’s seven and a half tons of fun!
“We’re very excited to be able to confirm the release date for TEMBO THE BADASS ELEPHANT.” said John Clark, VP of Commercial Publishing for SEGA Europe, “We don’t think there’s a single game out there with a better name and hope that consumers will stampede the digital marketplaces in order to get their hands on this mammoth adventure!”
Those who pre-order Tembo The Badass Elephant on Steam will currently receive a ten percent discount, with the same offer being extended to Xbox Live Gold and PlayStation Plus members at release. However, if you happen to be on the fence, you may as well wait for our in-depth review, which will be published close to launch.
