Though Warner Bros.’ current-gen remaster Batman: Return to Arkham is still nowhere to be seen, developer Rocksteady has today lifted the curtain on the first gameplay trailer for Batman: Arkham VR, the upcoming bite-sized experience that finds you in the cape and cowl as the World’s Greatest Detective.
Priced at $19.99, Arkham VR is on course to launch exclusively for Sony’s PlayStation VR in October, and is pitched as “a murder mystery in the style of the classic Batman comic books, but with a strong dose of the dark psychology that the Arkham games are well known for.”
[zerggaming]As the trailer above reveals, you’ll be submerged into the depths of the Batcave and Wayne Manor as you go about solving puzzles to uncover a dark mystery. The true selling point of Batman: Arkham VR is, of course, immersing yourself into the world of the iconic DC hero, and it should be noted that Rocksteady is considering its VR spinoff to be more of an experience than a full-fledged game – hence the price point.
Indeed, that’s a bracket of virtual reality games that we can expect to see more often as PlayStation VR nears its October 13 launch date, and it’ll be fascinating to see whether other studios take an interest in the superhero genre should Rocksteady’s offshoot prove successful.
Batman: Arkham VR is penciled in for launch in October.
