Respawn Entertainment rolled out a sizable patch for Apex Legends yesterday, primarily aimed at keeping players occupied for the next several weeks until Season 10 arrives.
The battle royale’s next major update is scheduled to land in the first few weeks of August, with Thrillseekers, a limited-time affair, intended to run until late summer. Whether this ends up being the same date reserved for the arrival of a new playable Legend and other miscellaneous content remains to be seen, but either way, there should be plenty here to tide fans over.
As usual, participants of this event can look forward to earning themselves a bunch of rewards, including gun charms and crafting materials as well as weapon and character skins. It’s the latter of these – or one in particular, at least – however, that’s causing quite a stir on social media.
Revenant’s so-called ‘Seeing Red’ skin can be added to your personal collection either as part of a bundle or individual purchase for the usual asking price of 1,800 Apex Coins, though as far as Legendary rarity skins are concerned, fans aren’t all that impressed, not least because his new frame looks like a mishmash of various different ideas.
Many have called attention to his face mask as looking nearly identical to that of Star Wars‘ General Grievous, while the armored and perfectly spherical shoulder pads have been likened to oversized Poké Balls. The similarities are coincidental, of course, and aren’t to be considered official in any way, though one can’t help but wonder if the skin’s designers are fans of either franchise and subconsciously drew inspiration from both franchises.
Either way, you’ll have until August 3rd to purchase Seeing Red, as well as any other Apex Legends skin, added alongside Thrillseekers, so there’s plenty of time to decide if you like it or not.
