Capcom unveiled a new trailer yesterday showcasing the many features that are unique to the Nintendo Wii U version of Resident Evil: Revelations.
The upcoming survival horror game — which launches on multiple platforms later this month — is a high definition port of the well-received 3DS game, that also boasts a series of added features. With Resident Evil 6 not living up to the large publisher’s expectations, Capcom is hoping to redeem the seventeen-year-old franchise by showcasing that they are still a top contender when it comes to survival horror.
Much like the original 3DS version, players can utilize the Wii U’s Gamepad as a menu screen to change weapons, view maps and use items in real time. The pad is also used to solve some puzzles which mostly involve wiring various circuit boards correctly. If switching between screens sounds tedious, the game can also be played using only your television, or on the Gamepad’s screen.
In addition, Resident Evil: Revelations also incorporates the Wii U’s Miiverse into its gameplay, allowing people to attach messages to monsters and leave helpful hints in the game over screen.
Filling in the gap between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil: Revelations follows series regulars Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield as they attempt to stop a mysterious terrorist organization known as Veltro. Taking place mostly at sea on the abandoned cruise ship named the SS Queen Zenobia, the game is a love letter to the original Resident Evil, with its creepy atmosphere and use of limited ammunition against various bio-engineered monsters. Players can expect to sink a good eight hours into the campaign, with various features such as a co-op mission mode and new a difficulty, adding to the replayability.
Get ready to dive into the cold waters of horror when Resident Evil: Revelations launches for PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U on May 21st.
