Even ‘Marvel’s Midnight Suns’ can’t escape the inevitability that is Morbin’ Time

Once again we find ourselves preparing to Morb.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns landed last year to great reviews, though Firaxis Games’ combination of Marvel heroes, tactical teamwork, and card-based combat doesn’t seem to have set the gaming world on fire. The game underperformed in sales, with designer Jake Solomon leaving the company soon after launch after more than two decades.

But don’t count out Midnight Suns just yet, as it’s just received a shot in a DLC from the most talked-about movie superhero of 2022. That’s right, it’s the vamp that set social media ablaze with a flood of memes, the hero whose movie saw not one but two separate theatrical runs, the one and only… Morbius! You know what time it is:

It’s perhaps worth noting that previous DLC characters Deadpool and Venom got a marketing push behind them prior to launch, whereas the Morbius DLC just kind of appeared in online stores yesterday with zero fanfare.

We suspect that these DLC plans were set in stone sometime before Morbius released in April 2022 and Midnight Suns designers may have predicted that by 2023, audiences would be hungry for more Morbin’ action. As the character is now primarily a meme-based punchline and nobody wants more Morbius, maybe they just wanted to get this out and move on.

We’ll have a full review of the Midnight Suns Morbius DLC up later today and as both the Deadpool and Venom DLCs were a whole bunch of fun, we’re looking forward to seeing what vampiric tricks ol’ Morb has up his tattered sleeves.

The Midnight Suns DLC will wrap up with the final instalment focusing on the X-Men’s Storm next month.
