Fantasy MMO The Elder Scrolls Online is getting its first free-to-play weekend on PlayStation 4 from November 16 to November 20, Bethesda has announced. Starting from tomorrow, you’ll be able to download the game directly from the PlayStation Store and set about unearthing Tamriel’s secrets, but do note – you’ll need a whopping 73 GB of free space on your console to initiate the download. PlayStation Plus is not required.
If you opt to participate in the promotion, the entirety of the base game will be open for access, although content and new areas introduced through DLC and expansions will be inaccessible. All accounts created during the weekend will receive 500 free Crowns to spend on “fun costumes, unique pets, helpful scrolls and more,” in the in-game store, with all character progress able to be carried over if you so decide to keep playing following the conclusion of the free weekend.
For PS4 Pro owners, Bethesda has released a new video (above) that showcases some of the visual and performance improvements exclusive to the console, including, of course, native 4K support. However, even if you don’t own a 4K-enabled device, PS4 Pro enables play in 1080p Enhanced Mode, which includes “graphical enhancements to ambient occlusion and water reflections, as well as improved shadow fidelity.”
