EA and Ghost Games have good news and bad news for budding Need for Speed fans today. First up, the good news: the publisher has confirmed that the those looking to get in on the street-racing action early can sign up for the chance to partake in the game’s closed beta. Be quick, though, for registration for the testing period on consoles closed on Friday, September 25, at 10am CEST.

There is bad news, however, with Ghost Games taking to its official site to confirm that the PC version of the much-hyped reboot has been delayed into spring 2016. It’s a decision that was based on community feedback, according to the Swedish dev, with the post itself noting that the PC community had been vocal in their desire for an unlocked frame rate.

Per Ghost Games:

Part of the conversation includes hearing from our PC community that an unlocked frame rate in Need for Speed is a massive priority for you, and we fully agree. To deliver this, we’ve made the decision to move the PC release date to Spring 2016. Our PlayStation 4 and Xbox One release dates will remain the same, starting November 3, 2015 in North America and November 5 worldwide.

This decision on PC gives us the necessary development time to increase the visuals that we can deliver on PC. We will also include content updates that will have been released on console up to that time, making them available to all PC players from day one.

Following today’s announcement, Need for Speed is now primed to race onto PlayStation 4 and Xbox One first on November 3 and November 5 in North America and in other territories, respectively. PC owners, on the other hand, will have to wait patiently until early 2016 before taking to the streets for Ghost’s reboot.
