EA’s Craig Owen confirmed at E3 today that their upcoming title, the highly anticipated Titanfall, from Respawn Entertainment, will have dedicated servers on the PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
“We’re using Microsoft’s cloud compute initiative to run all our servers for it, so it’s all running on dedicated servers,” Owens said. “We’ll spin up and spin down servers as necessary, and it’ll do all the AI hosting and physics calculations and all matchmaking and all of that good stuff. It’s all dedicated servers, all the time.”
The lid has really been pulled back on Titanfall at this year’s E3 and I must say, I’m sold. The footage we saw yesterday was pretty impressive and as of now, I think it’s safe to expect a multiplayer juggernaut that may be able to compete with Battlefield and Call of Duty. It’s still a bit early and we’re definitely eager to see and hear more but for now, count us in. After all, what’s not to like about soldiers taking on mechs in a futuristic, war-based setting?
