Dragon Ball XenoVerse 2, a follow-up to the original game released last year, has been announced by Bandai Namco Entertainment, and will release at some point in 2016 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, the publisher has confirmed.
Set to be developed once again by Japanese studio Dimps, the reveal trailer follows a 24-hour period of speculation, during which Bandai Namco had been teasing some major news relating to the popular franchise, which is all about fighting aliens with funky hair and ridiculous names.
Story details haven’t been provided just yet, but judging by the trailer (above), it looks like we’ll once again be placed in the shoes of a custom-made protagonist as we attempt to protect the events of the past, present and future from an unseen, malevolent entity.
However, it appears as if the player will also be given the option to rewrite certain periods in the series’ history, too. Brief footage showing various well-known events of the anime series are interspersed with the messages “Protect the history of Dragon Ball” and “Outcomes you wished were different.”
Dragon Ball XenoVerse 2 releasing so soon after the original may be cause for concern over it being fast-tracked for release rather than being given any new features and content, but we’ll just have to wait until release to see the end result. For our review of the first game, head over here.
