Early adopters of the Xbox One have been left on tenterhooks waiting on the arrival of Remedy’s upcoming time-bending shooter Quantum Break, which was first unveiled alongside Microsoft’s console in 2013, though it appears the studio is approaching the final straight.

Taking to Twitter, Remedy’s Entertainment head of PR Thomas Puha revealed that the Xbox One exclusive is “so close” to going gold, and that the development team have very much entered crunch mode.

That’s good news, too, considering that Quantum Break has been pegged for launch on April 5. And though delays are certainly not uncommon in the current climate, the fact that Remedy’s new IP was once slated for 2014, before being pushed into 2015 and finally 2016 means that the studio will likely be doing everything in its power to write off the possibility of a third postponement.

One intriguing facet of Quantum Break‘s development is the live-action TV series that has been produced in tandem with Remedy’s game. Granted, all has been quiet on that front for some time, though we do know that it’s set to star Aidan Gillen, Courtney Hope and Shawn Ashmore, best known as Iceman in the X-Men films. Remedy’s third-person cover shooter has naturally taken precedent for now, but we’re intrigued to see how the two entities are woven together – both in terms of player choice and the overarching narrative.

Quantum Break is slated for April 5, 2016 – providing it doesn’t slip for a third time, that is.
