Borderlands 2 has been officially announced and now we have the first details on the game. Four player co-op is set to return although you won’t be taking control of the same characters.
Instead, you’ll embody people like Salvador (seen above), a Gunzerker who can use any two weapons at once, while our heroes from the old game (Roland the Soldier, Mordecai the Hunter, Lilith the Siren, and Brick the Berserker), will become NPCs in Borderlands 2.
Furthermore, story missions are said to be more dynamic and will shape your character’s future. There is also going to be a new element called Eridium, wich you can use as a currency or combine it with other elements to improve stats on your weapons and vehicles.
Speaking of weapons, Gearbox is bringing us a brand new batch with custom decals and enhancements and gun manufacturers are said to have their own personalities and styles. Gamers can also expect to see more variety in vehicles and improved AI for enemies.
Lastly, Gearbox promises that Borderlands 2 will be more epic in scale and NPCs will be more interactive.
All in all, it looks like Gearbox is hoping for a full fledged sequel, rather than just a Borderlands 1.5, which is fine by me. I loved the first game and if they can create something equally as good or better with the sequel, I’ll be completely satisfied.
