Destiny 2 Beta Impressions: We’re All In For A Fight

The Destiny 2 beta gave a strong glimpse as to what is in store for gamers on September 6, and new subclasses, game modes, and some sharp graphics prove that this franchise is better than ever.

The Destiny 2 beta also gave us an all new 3-player Strike, called the Spire Strike, which had Guardians assaulting a mining facility that leads to a final battle with a massive Vex construct. The battle was intense and even seasoned gamers – all players were light level 200 in each mode for the purpose of the beta – found a nice challenge here. In fact, the final battle was reminiscent of what we saw in each of the original Destiny’s “boss” battles, which gave a level of gravity to what was, on the surface, a simple Strike mission.

New Crucible Maps And Modes

In addition to the opening story chapter and the Strike, the Destiny 2 beta also included two Crucible options. As you surely know, this is Destiny’s version of PvP, as Guardians battle it out with other Guardians to gain experience, loot and marks, that can be used to buy bigger and better weapons, armor and more.

The Destiny 2 beta options included a version of Control and a new game, called Countdown, on the Endless Vale map. Players were rewarded with some pretty cool loot by participating and performing well, but all the rewarded loot was still light level locked at 200, so other than some neat cosmetic options and new ships, earning the new loot didn’t really affect you much and instead worked to help keep the playing field as level as possible.
