According to a new Famitsu report, Team Ninja has confirmed that Dead or Alive 5 Plus on the PlayStation Vita will not only allow players to fight against their PS3 counterparts, but it will also let owners share any downloadable costumes that are purchased from Sony’s PlayStation Store between the two versions of the game.
The obvious advantage of this “cross goods” feature is that all of the Dead or Alive 5 costumes that have already been purchased through a users PSN account will be free to download into the PS Vita version of the fighter. The other benefit, that might not be as apparent, is that the Paradise costumes that are being included for free in the first print of Dead or Alive 5 Plus will also be unlocked in the PS3 game.
Speaking of the Paradise costumes, it has also been revealed that Dead or Alive 5 Plus will include a beach stage called “Zack Island”. This means that while the skimpy swim suit Paradise costumes are still completely inappropriate, at least there is some small amount of context added to the game to (kind of, but not really) justify their existence.
As for Dead or Alive 5 Plus‘ cross play support, it appears that the feature will not only allow players on the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita to fight each other — an icon will show up on the screen that reveals which system your opponent is playing on — but it will also allow for cross saves between Sony’s two platforms. This will allow players to continue their PS3 playthrough of the game’s story mode while out and about with their Vita.
Dead or Alive 5 Plus is currently scheduled to launch for the PlayStation Vita on March 19, 2013 in the United States, March 20th in Japan, and March 22nd in the UK. We will let you know as soon as Team Ninja releases any additional details or assets for the game.
