Halo 4 fever is growing ever more intense ahead of its November 6 release, with Microsoft and 343 Industries not only committing to their normal level of intense promotion but going as far to develop an entire live-action web series, Forward Unto Dawn.
Things are not slowing down either as it’s been announced that director David Fincher will produce a “mysterious” two-minute TV spot with Girl with the Dragon Tattoo special effects lead Tim Miller directing.
What makes this particular ad so mysterious is, ironically, a mystery but with Fincher being a self-confessed fan of the Halo video game series we can expect him to bring not only his creative prowess to the project but also a heaping handful of nerd love.
It’s also been reported that Fincher will bring Conan O’Brian and the show’s writer Andy Richter on board to provide voice work with the finished product, set to premiere on Jimmy Fallon’s late night show on October 18.
David Fincher currently has his fingers in a number of mediums including, of course, film with The Girl Who Played with Fire on the horizon (though Fincher is not confirmed to return) his TV show House of Cards starring Kevin Spacey and now a commercial.
The man is certainly no stranger to the shorter format, having gotten his start in music videos, crafting spots for artists including Madonna, Nine Inch Nails and The Rolling Stones among many others.
It appears we’ll be kept in the dark a little while longer before we get to see this Halo project but we’ll be sure to report on the TV spot itself when it debuts online.
