Well how about that? We all knew Steamforged Games’ Kickstarter campaign for Dark Souls The Board Game was going to be successful, but in less than three minutes? That’s just bonkers.
Since going live yesterday, the £50,000 (approx. $70,000) goal has already been smashed and as of writing, the total amount of backers stands at 7,146 with £595,515 (approx. $850,000) pledged to the project. It seems the folks behind the highly-anticipated board game were slightly taken back by the popularity of the Kickstarter too, with an update on the page reading:
Amazing guys! Funded in 3 Minutes!!! The journey has just begun – what an amazing start. Stretch goals update coming soon seems several have already been smashed!
The campaign still has 26 days to go, so expect that already-massive number to only get bigger. Steamforged says that additional stretch goals will be added throughout the campaign as well, so be sure to check back on a regular basis. If you intend to back the project, the Early Backer bracket has already been and gone, but the standard £80 ($115) bracket is still available.
Dark Souls The Board Game is described as a “strategically challenging, deeply immersive combat exploration game for 1-4 players,” and will feature various bosses and enemies from the games.
Dark Souls™ – The Board Game is a strategically challenging, deeply immersive combat exploration game for 1-4 players set in the Dark Souls™ universe. Players choose from a number of core character classes and explore dangerous locations full of monsters, treasures, and deadly boss fights.
Steamforged estimates that backers will receive their copy of the board game in April 2017.
