Figures published by retail analyst Chart-Track have revealed that Ubisoft’s MMO-styled racer The Crew has entered the UK all-formats charts in sixth place, whereas EA’s FIFA 15 reclaimed pole position.
The company’s always-online arcade racer proved to be the biggest launch of the last seven days — mind you, it didn’t have much competition — with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One accounting for 59 per cent and 33 per cent of physical sales, respectively. It’s worth noting that Chart-Track doesn’t record digital sales for any title in its weekly run-down.
With that said, here’s this week’s top-ten in full:
1) FIFA 15
2) Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
3) Grand Theft Auto V
4) Far Cry 4
5) Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham
6) The Crew
7) Assassin’s Creed Unity
8) Minecraft: Xbox Edition
9) Minecraft: PlayStation Edition
10) DriveClub
Given that The Crew was only one of two new releases to crack the top 40 this week — Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts 2.5 ReMIX arriving in at 31st — it was largely business in this week’s standings, with the likes of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Grand Theft Auto V holding on to those coveted top three spots.
Elsewhere, Far Cry 4 and LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham rounded out the top five, allowing Minecraft — no doubt buoyed by the festive season — and Evolution Studio’s beleaguered DriveClub to complete the top ten.
As the notable releases begin to peter out, expect a quiet few weeks in the UK charts as we move towards the year’s end. Even still, with retailers running nine kinds of price promotions in the run up to Christmas, there’s no telling which games will make the jump as they each clamour for a place in the top ten.
Circling back to Ubisoft’s The Crew, however, and it seems the racer has performed overly well for a new IP. We’ll have our own thoughts on the title for you to enjoy in the coming days, so be sure to stay tuned to We Got This Covered.
