It’s shaping up to be a big, big weekend for folks on the frontier what with a free multiplayer trial and the Colony Reborn update headed to Titanfall 2.
Word comes by way of Respawn’s latest blog post, revealing that the free trial kicks off today on all platforms – namely PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC – and will continue through until Monday, April 3rd. Exactly when the trail will go offline remains a mystery for now, but we’ll keep you posted as the weekend wears on. One thing’s for sure: similar to previous weekend tests, any progress gained will carry over to the core Titanfall 2 experience should you choose to upgrade, meaning you can pick up right where you left off.
In tandem with this weekend’s trial, Titanfall 2 users will find that the Colony Reborn update is now live on all platforms. As previously revealed, it heralds a revamped version of the Colony map from the first game, the R-101 replete with ACOG scope, and the all-new Curb Check execution.
Here’s a rundown of the content included, courtesy of Respawn:
- New Map – Colony – This classic should be familiar to long-time Titanfall fans. Set among a sleepy settler town, the dense center is filled with narrow streets, interiors, and rooftops surrounded by open Titan lanes
- Weapon – R-101 – Universally well regarded for its unique versatility, the R-101 platform has been a mainstay of human conflict since the first settlers arrived from the Core Systems. This version is outfitted with ACOG scope
- New execution – Curb Check
If you’ve yet to experience Titanfall 2, now is as good a time as any. Respawn’s shooter sequel was arguably one of the greatest games of 2016, and the studio’s pragmatic approach to downloadable content has won over a lot of fans. Remember, this latest free trial will continue through until Monday, April 3rd, and you’ll be able to find a comprehensive overview of the patch notes for Colony Reborn right here.
