If, like us, you were disappointed when EA announced that Mirror’s Edge Catalyst had been delayed, there’s some good news – there’s a closed beta on the way for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. If you head over here, you can register your interest for the beta, but you’ll need to sign upĀ or already have an EA account to do so.
Announced two years ago at EA’s annual E3 press event, information regarding the game since then has been slim, to say the least. Even as recently as late last year, only a handful of trailers and public demo events had taken place, and unsurprisingly, its release date was pushed back from the original February 2016 date to May 24, 2016.
The original game – released in 2009 – was commended for its unique free-running and parkour elements, but equally criticized for relying on the use of guns to attract a bigger audience. Either way, Faith’s first adventure didn’t exactly perform well in regards to sales, and the title ultimately attained cult status and a small, devoted following of fans.
Fast-forward seven years, and the sequel that many had been asking for, but nobody expected, is on the cusp of being released. EA haven’t revealed the specific dates of when the beta will be held, but said the following of the announcement.
Some of you will be able to step into the shoes of Faith before our run towards the May 24 release is complete. We’re happy to announce that a Closed Beta for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst is coming, and you can now sign up for a chance to be part of it.
The Mirror’s Edge Catalyst Closed Beta will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and on Origin for PC. Stay tuned for more info on the Closed Beta, when it’s coming, and other details.
There’s also a new trailer to go along with the announcement – you can watch it above. We’ll keep you updated as and when EA announce specific start dates for Mirror’s Edge Catalyst‘s beta, so stay tuned.
