Following in the footsteps of Resident Evil 5 and 6, Capcom has announced today that Resident Evil 4 – arguably one of the finest entries in the publisher’s iconic horror series – will shuffle onto PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on August 30.

That’s a little ahead of schedule, too, considering that Capcom had initially pegged RE4 for a fall release on current-gen systems. A nice surprise, then, particularly considering that this revamped version of Resident Evil 4 bundles together all of the content and additional features that were introduced in later versions of the game.

For the uninitiated, you’ll steer Leon S. Kennedy through a gruelling mission to save the President’s daughter in what would go on to become one of the most intense horror experiences of last generation. In outlining those additional features, Capcom revealed that “the mysterious and elusive Ada Wong stars in her own side story, which fills in intriguing story gaps from Leon’s mission. Mercenaries Mode – the addicting evolution of RE3’s bonus mode – is awarded to players who complete the campaign, providing hours of replayability and lets fans play as Wesker, Hunk, and more iconic characters.”

It’s been quite the year for all things Resident Evil what with it being the franchise reaching its 20th anniversary. Building on the nostalgia of its remastered forebear, Resident Evil 4 will hit PS4 and Xbox One on August 30. Looking further afield, the next numbered entry in the series, Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, has been slated for a January, 2017 release.
