Zombies Mode, the undead staple of the Call of Duty franchise ever since Treyarch’s World of War, is in line for a dramatic makeover with this year’s Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
Entitled Zombies in Spaceland, the “radical” overhaul thrusts the fan-favorite survival mode back to the ’80s, where four aspiring actors are drawn to a lurid movie theater run by Willard Wyler, voiced by Pee-Wee star Paul Reubens.
Indeed, the Hollywood talent doesn’t end there; keeping up tradition of past entries in the series, Infinite Warfare‘s mode also features Seth Green (Robot Chicken), Ike Barinholtz (Suicide Squad), Jay Pharoah (Ride Along) and Saturday Night Live star Sasheer Zamata as the core quartet, who will be fending off waves upon waves of the undead in a space-themed amusement park. As if that wasn’t enough, Baywatch stalwart David Hasselhoff is also on board as the Spaceland DJ, who is said to be a valuable asset to the team while also providing “a killer soundtrack.”
[zerggaming]The official pitch for Zombies in Spaceland reveals a mode that “tells the story of four aspiring actors who come upon a mysterious movie theater for an audition. They’ve been invited by director Willard Wyler, portrayed with voice and likeness by Paul Reubens, who was once the shining star of the horror genre. Unbeknownst to the actors, they will be transformed into the movie characters onscreen and transported straight into Wyler’s film to fight against an all-new variety of zombies in an ‘80s theme park.”
If you’re chomping at the bit to see this new mode in action, Infinity Ward will host a special Twitch stream tomorrow August 17 from 9:00am Pacific Time.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is due to arrive on November 4.
