Batman Will Build His Way To Space In LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham

Like it or hate it, the LEGO video game franchise continues to gain both speed and popularity. In fact, the series has sold a whopping one hundred million copies in its lifetime, which is nothing to sneeze at, and explains why things will continue later this year with the newly-announced LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham.

The interesting thing about Beyond Gotham is that its subtitle refers to more than a simple change of scenery. Instead, Bats and around one hundred and fifty of his DC Comics peers will take a trip to space for their next brick-constructed outing. Yes, you read that right: It’ll be Batman in space, and will allow for trips to other characters’ intergalactic worlds, such as those modelled after the lore behind both Green Lantern and Superman. And, as expected, it’ll introduce new puzzles, abilities and block-filled scenarios for Bat-fans to enjoy.

Although I want to be excited about this news, I’m admittedly a bit burned out on LEGO games. I also didn’t enjoy LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes very much as it was overly repetitive and rather dull. Here’s hoping this sci-fi follow-up will end up being a marked improvement over that game.

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham will fly into space this fall, when it’s released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Wii U, 3DS and Vita.
