Four years. That’s how long fans of the Caped Crusader have been waiting for a brand new Batman game to be announced. Keeping the faith that Arkham series creator Rocksteady would continue where it left off with 2015’s terrific Batman: Arkham Knight ultimately turned out to be futile, what with the developer having since moved on to a secretive new project. But all hope is not lost for the Dark Knight’s future in video games. Not yet.
As is the case with Rocksteady, Batman: Arkham Origins developer Warner Bros. Montreal has remained tight-lipped on the specifics concerning its next project. Naturally, that air of mystery has given rise to speculation that it could be continuing where the aforementioned dev left off and it seems that could well be the case. In a recent exchange with fans over on Twitter, Osama Dorias, senior game designer for Warner Bros. Montreal, had the following to share:

Is this confirmation of the Arkham series’ continuation? Hardly, but we at least now know that DC Comics is involved. The real question is: who will be the star? Could it be the case that Warner Bros. intends to take a leaf out of Marvel’s book with the recently released Ultimate Alliance 3, or should we be expecting another solo affair?
Chances are, we won’t receive an answer anytime soon, though if not Batman taking charge, there’s plenty of iconic characters to choose from. Green Lantern, The Flash, Wonder Woman: these folks don’t demand the same level of mainstream attention as the Bat, but it’s nonetheless fun to speculate on such things.
Regardless, we’ve no choice but to sit patiently and wait for further details. In the meantime, however, feel free to let us know via the comments below what you’d like to see from a potential follow-up to Batman: Arkham Origins.
