If you ever wanted to hear a slow take on Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Bad Moon Rising” played over medieval hack ‘n’ slash action, Bandai Namco Games has the trailer for you. Entitled “Sins,” the latest trailer for Lords of the Fallen focuses on the checkered past of our protagonist and the bloody future he faces.

In Lords of the Fallen, players will step into the massive shoes of Harkyn, a convicted criminal who is looking for redemption. However, in the face of an attack from the ancient gods, this murderer and sexual deviant might be the last hope the human population has. Harkyn will have to hack, slash and cleave his way through an assortment of baddies in order to save the human race, as well as his own soul.

To coincide with this latest trailer, Bandai Namco Games also announced that anyone who pre-orders Lords of the Fallen will be entitled to the Limited Edition version of the title at no extra cost. The Limited Edition comes with the title’s official soundtrack, the “Monk’s Decipher” DLC and the Demonic Weapons Pack DLC, which comes with three new weapons for Harkyn to wield.

While I wasn’t a fan of developer Deck13’s previous effort, the generic hack and slasher Blood Knights, I have a little more faith in the quality of Lords of the Fallen. For starters, the title is the first big effort from The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings producer Tomasz Gop since his departure from CD Projekt RED. Gop’s guiding hand, as well as the title’s heavy Dark Souls influence, make it something worth keeping an eye on later this year, even in a crowded fall slate of games.

Lords of the Fallen is scheduled to hit the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on October 28 in North America and October 31 across Europe.
