Ubisoft has released a new trailer and a few new details for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed III downloadable content The Tyranny of King Washington, giving us a clearer picture as to what to expect from the three-part episodic add-on package.
When the DLC was initially announced last October, Ubisoft seemed to indicate that it would take place at the close of Assassin’s Creed III‘s main story missions and center around an alternate history where George Washington decided to to become the King of America instead of the country’s first President. According to the press release accompanying the new The Tyranny of King Washington trailer, this initial impression was only partially correct.
The DLC actually takes place in an alternate world where Connor never leaves on his journey to become an Assassin or help out with the American Revolution War effort. This means that he retains the (impossible to pronounce) name Ratonhnhaké:ton, and never gets to awkwardly double up on the same horse with Paul Revere. When the war comes to a close in the DLC George Washington decides to make a mad grab for ultimate power over the new nation, forcing Ratonhnhaké:ton to quickly “endure new trials” so that he can prepare to defeat the new ruler and “win freedom for his land once and for all”.
The Tyranny of King Washington downloadable content is part of Assassin’s Creed III‘s Season Pass — which is currently available for 2400 Microsoft Bucks on Xbox Live or $29.99 on the PSN — and can be pre-ordered at GameStop or Best Buy. Ubisoft has not announced how much the DLC will cost outside of the Season Pass, nor have they nailed down its exact release date.
