The cool thing about DLC packages is that you’ll see fighting games populated with characters one never would’ve thought possible in that universe. Depending on what your game of choice is, there’s a good chance you’ve taken the likes of Freddy Krueger, Hellboy or the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles out for a spin by now.
On that note, it came as welcome news when it was recently revealed how Mortal Kombat 11 will soon expand its ranks by adding more Kombatants like Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Sindel, Spawn, the Joker and even the Terminator. That’s right, you can demand that someone turn over their clothes, boots and motorcycle before kicking their ass in a virtual environment.
However, despite Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon Tweeting “Part of me still can’t believe we got Arnold,” it’s important to stress that NetherRealm Studios merely secured Arnie’s likeness – not his voice. Instead, the T-800 will be voiced by a soundalike actor.
At the time of this writing, it remains unknown as to who’ll take over. If I were to have a say, I’d recommend one of the guys who impersonated Arnold on one of Austrian Death Machine’s albums. Should you be unfamiliar with that particular metal band, know that all of their songs are patterned after Schwarzenegger one-liners from his various films. Yes, they’re entirely real.
In the past, Arnie did lend his voice to a couple video games, those being 1991’s Terminator 2 and 2003’s Terminator 3. That said, we can probably put to bed any notion of the veteran actor being unwilling to contribute to the medium.
Anyways, as of October 8th, you’ll be able to download the T-800 for use in Mortal Kombat 11. After that, gear up for Terminator: Dark Fate, which arrives in theaters on November 1st.
