Having launched alongside the Xbox One late last year, Ryse: Son of Rome was held up as the blood-drenched poster child for the next generation of consoles. With slick, QTE-heavy gameplay complimented with undeniably crisp graphics, Crytek’s action game was a visual showcase; and yet, the third-person title failed to make a lasting impression.
In fact, in the months after release, the studio stated that it wasn’t “100% happy” with sales of the once Xbox One exclusive, which thereby explains Ryse: Son of Rome’s journey to PC, where it will launch on October 10th, 2014.
Supporting 4K resolution and including the legion of DLC packs, Ryse’s PC port is a definitive edition in all but name. Those aforementioned add-ons include Mars’ Chosen, Morituri, Duel of Fates and lastly the Colosseum pack. Moreover, this latest version also grants players with instant access to two products of the Xbox One special edition: the Legionnaire’s Trust sword and Runes multiplayer maps.
