With December 31st coming up fast, there was very little chance that Namco Bandai was on target to hit their planned 2013 release window for the free-to-play title Ace Combat Infinity. The publisher has now confirmed the obvious by announcing that the PS3 game has officially been pushed back to 2014.
As reported by Gematsu, Namco Bandi put the blame for Ace Combat Infinity‘s delay on a desire to release a “better quality product,” which seems to indicate that the game’s recent closed beta in Japan turned up more issues than expected.
We still know very little about what Namco Bandai has planned for the free-to-play PS3 title, although they have confirmed that it will contain a brand new story campaign (with “precise near future world setting, super weapons and hyper-real visuals”), online co-op, and a 8-pilot team multiplayer mode.
Unfortunately, there is no official word from Namco on exactly when in 2014 Ace Combat Infinity will touch down on the PS3. We will keep a look out for a more precise ETA though, and let you know as soon as we hear anything.
