6 Iconic Locations We’d Love To Visit In Star Wars Battlefront II

As with any revered, absurdly popular multimedia franchise, any addition to its universe, official or otherwise, is inevitably going to be met with a certain level of criticism. It is, after all, impossible to please absolutely everyone, but in the case of Star Wars, any third party that attempts to put its own spin on George Lucas' sci-fi epic has multiple generations of fans to satisfy - an already difficult task only compounded by the additional pressure of living up to the Battlefront name.

Ever wondered where all those transport ships went after fleeing the Imperial invasion on Hoth? The likely answer is that they all converged on yet another Rebel base hidden from the all-seeing gaze of the Empire, but not before making a pit-stop at Mustafar, I reckon. I mean, If I’d just spent the last several months of my life eking out a living on a glorified ball of ice, it’d certainly be my first port of call after making the jump to lightspeed.

Far removed from the frozen tundras and horrifying wampas that call Hoth home, Mustafar lies on the total opposite end of the environmental spectrum. Its surface presumably splintered and ruptured by volcanic action, water is an element that likely doesn’t exist on the scorching hot planet, replaced instead by rivers of searing lava that spread as far as the eye can see. A fitting visage for the evil-inclined, the inhospitable rock served as a haven for Palpatine’s Separatist puppets in Revenge of the Sith, as well as the staging ground for Obi-Wan’s climactic battle with pupil-turned-crazed-Sith, Anakin.

In its current, post-DLC form, Battlefront‘s suite of multiplayer maps differ well enough from each other as to prevent similarity from creeping in, but besides Sullust – which wasn’t particularly great, mind you – extreme climates similar to Mustafar’s were sorely underrepresented in the original.

For that reason alone, it deserves consideration, but like Dagobah, it’s hazardous terrain could make for a slew of interesting dynamic environments, also boasting the added bonus of being an integral setting for various story events. I’ll honestly be surprised if this one doesn’t make it in.
