It seems Halo: The Master Chief Collection isn’t out of the woods yet. After the long-awaited compilation launched into an array of online-centric problems, developer 343 Industries released a server-side patch that was designed to optimize the experience of finding a game in the multiplayer component.
However, disgruntled users are still encountering problems with the Xbox One exclusive, which has forced the studio to reduce the number of active playlists in the collection in order to reduce the wait times between matches. In a post through Halo Waypoint, Executive Producer Dan Ayoub confirmed plans to pull four of the compilation’s playlist in a bid to rectify the ongoing matchmaking problems.
“Players have expressed frustration at poor matchmaking times, or bad experiences in general,” Ayoub said. “This is something we are working 24/7 to isolate and fix. Since launch, we have done a number of daily server-side tweaks to improve this experience and our data indicates these adjustments have helped considerably, but the state is still far from where it needs to be.”
As such, fans will expect to bid a temporary farewell to Team Hardcore, Rumble Pit, Halo 4, and SWAT Rotational as 343 Industries hones in on a permanent solution.
On a related note, Halo: The Master Chief Collection is due to receive its first title update this morning, though this patch will target some of the stat-based errors in the game, with 343 planning to release a “minor fix” as soon as possible to get the matchmaking servers back on track.
