Even though the Justice League movie is set to release on Blu-ray in a couple of months, fans of DC’s premier superhero team have much, much more to look forward to in 2018. Long story short, expect the landscape of the DC Universe to change not long after Dark Nights: Metal concludes on March 14.
To be more specific, superstar scribe Scott Snyder (Batman) has put together an all-star team-up of his own, bringing writers Joshua Williamson (The Flash) and James Tynion IV (Detective Comics) and artist Francis Manapul (Trinity) along for the ride. Having listed those names in the same sentence, you can probably imagine that Justice League: No Justice will no doubt be a miniseries to remember.
Set to run on a weekly basis throughout May, this four-issue limited run sounds like it may be the craziest thing that a certain twelfth-level intellect has been involved with since Convergence:
In this four-issue miniseries, the super-villain Brainiac arrives on Earth with a dire warning for the Justice League: there’s a threat coming to destroy Earth, one that the heroes are ill-equipped to handle. Brainiac thinks he holds the key to victory, but it means combining members of the League with some of the most dangerous villains in the DC Universe and sending them into battle against this extinction-level menace. The stakes are at their absolute highest; if one of these teams fail. It’s game over.
What’s especially interesting is that smaller teams will be assembled for this task, each of them captained by a major Leaguer that we’re familiar with. But while certain superheroes like Robin and Starfire will be forced to step up in a big way, expect to see some villains and atypical characters join the fight, namely Harley Quinn, Sinestro, Deathstroke and even Starro!
What’s more is that whatever goes down here will pave the way for Snyder taking over writing duties on the flagship Justice League series following the conclusion. Furthermore, we could expect for the eponymous team’s lineup to see a drastic change and may even witness a shakeup bigger than when Geoff Johns incorporated the likes of Lex Luthor and Captain Cold.
Justice League: No Justice #1 arrives in comic shops on May 9.
