Turner’s been a staple of pop culture for decades now, between multiple film roles and the indelible mark the musician made on the world of music. She’s best known for several chart-topping tracks and memorable film roles, with songs like “What’s Love Got to Do With It” and “GoldenEye” rocketing Turner to success in the 1980s. Everyone is familiar with the Mad Max franchise at this point, but that’s largely due to the far more recent efforts to bring the classic story back to the big screen. While we certainly enjoyed Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron’s take on the story, it was first brought to screens in glorious form with Mel Gibson and, eventually, Tina Turner in lead roles. Gibson appeared in two Mad Max films ahead of 1985’s Beyond Thunderdome, but the film marks a high point in Turner’s career, and remains a favorite among fans of the talented star.

The flick follows Gibson’s Max Rockatansky after the theft of his vehicle leads him to Bartertown, a trading post run by Turner’s Aunty Entity. The delightful film contains a gladiatorial match between Max and the clever Master Blaster, a deadly venture into the desert wasteland, and an oasis populated by children, and every moment of it is pure gold.

If you’d like to enjoy the wonderful ’80s film for yourself, it is accessible on streaming — but not for free. There don’t appear to be any free or subscription-based options available for Beyond Thunderdome fans, but there are plenty of places to rent or purchase the flick outright. If you’re looking to own the third Mad Max film for yourself, you can purchase it for between $8 and $14 from a variety of sites, including Prime Video, Vudu, and Apple TV, according to Just Watch. If you’d prefer to rent, it’ll run you around $4, and the film is available from all the usual suspects, including those listed above.
