He may have risen through the ranks of the DiMeo crime family as Christopher Moltisanti but Michael Imperioli’s jazzy New York apartment is the exact antithesis of his character on the HBO show. It’s a space that elicits a calm feeling, designed to take you back to a more peaceful era with its classical art and theatrical influences.
The veteran actor is clearly proud of the work he and wife, Victoria (who is an interior and set designer) have done on the luxury home as he gives a tour with Architectural Digest. Upon entering his home, the bold personality of the place will immediately grab any visitor’s attention. You can see for yourself just how the apartment comes together.
Wever they can, Michael and Victoria have crammed the space with classical paintings and busts of Dante and figures from other works of literature “There is not a single piece of modern art in this house”. However, while the couple has made complete use of all the space they have, the interior design never crosses the line of being overwhelming or chaotic, everything feels like it has its space. It actually elicits similar feelings to the setting of The White Lotus.
Of course, looking at The Sopranos star’s home makes you wonder just how much all of this costs. The main living area and hallways look like they cost a lot to decorate the way they have and on top of that, the location is a pretty prime spot. The apartment is located in central New York with a partial view of the city’s skyline as well as Central Park. The whole building was originally a hotel, but despite this, the homes inside seem quite spacious and open with only the kitchen suffering from a reduced size.
Michael’s home also contains a study that houses his large selection of books ranging from the old classics to the modern greats like One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez. Imperioli also has an impressive collection of guitars hanging on the walls which he uses to play with his three-piece indie band: Zopa.
The bedroom is just as luxurious as the rest of the apartment with a double bed, an impressive view of the city, and a TV (despite the classical art, Imperioli reveals his favorite show to be American Dad!). On top of that, what once was a walk-in closet has since been converted into a shrine room for the actor to practice Buddhism. All in all it’s a pretty funky apartment that takes influence from multiple different eras of history.
Michael and his wife share three children together who have all grown up and live independently now, Imperioli admits during the tour of his home that having an “empty nest is fantastic.” Clearly, he has taken full advantage of all this space now that it’s just him and Victoria, as the apartment exudes an air of luxury and culture.
