Many couples like to return to the location of their first meet-cute to relive memories of how they met. The spot often holds special meaning for the couple and can feel almost magical. In this case, that spot happens to be a scene from one of the most popular shows of our time. Yes, Jon Hamm and his new bride Anna Osceola’s first meeting location also has a little Hollywood magic behind it, which is probably why the two decided it would be the perfect place to say their “I Do’s.” Here is the entertaining connection actor Jon Hamm has to his chosen wedding venue.
Jon Hamm and Anna Osceola married on Saturday, June 24th in a beautiful Big Sur, California location. While the ocean view and extraordinary sunsets certainly made it an ideal spot for a wedding, for the couple, there was another aspect that made the location even more picture-perfect – it was where they met.
Jon Hamm and Anna Osceola met on the set of the hit series Mad Men. Jon Hamm plays Don Draper, a no-nonsense egotistical marketing exec of a big Manhattan firm who has hit a dead end spiritually and emotionally. During season 7, which aired in 2015, Draper takes a trip to Big Sur, California to a yoga and meditation retreat in order to rediscover himself. It is there the character meets the lovely Clementine – a receptionist at the center. The episode was the series finale and while we did not see any more of the lovely Clementine character or Don Draper, Hamm and Osceola did begin seeing more of each other.
It was around this time that Hamm’s 18-year relationship with girlfriend Jennifer Westfield came to an end. Osceola and Hamm did not start dating for another 5 years following the breakup, or at least not announcing their relationship until 2020. In an interview with the NY Post, when asked why he and Jennifer had not married Hamm explained that “To me, people get married when they’re ready to have kids, which I’m not ruling out.” Does that mean he is ready to have kids now? We aren’t jumping to any conclusions but based on that interview it sounds like a possibility.
Osceola and Hamm have been dating since 2020 and seem very happy together. The wedding reportedly went off without a hitch and attracted some very big names in Hollywood including Tina Fey, Paul Rudd, and Billy Crudup. Of course, Hamm’s friend and Mad Men co-star John Slattery was also in attendance. The bride, according to Vanity Fair, walked down the aisle to the James Bond theme song “You Only Live Twice.” Because, why not? We agree the act of marrying Mad Men bad boy Jon Hamm might register on the James Bond level of adventures.
Hollywood movie magic often ends up translating to off-set romances and this a great example. Their wedding gave several nods to the show that not only brought them fame but also brought them together. Most notably of course is the venue itself as it was the place they first met and where the whole thing started. It’s a touching sentiment for a couple whose romance appears to be the stuff of Hollywood. Cheers to the happy couple!
