If anyone can accidentally create a viral remix of an already viral song during a viral performance at her viral record-breaking tour it’s Taylor Swift.
The pop singer’s hit song “Bad Blood” is enjoying a fresh round of publicity thanks to an altercation between a concertgoer and a security guard that broke out during a Philadelphia performance on the Eras Tour over Mother’s Day weekend. The moment was caught on camera by several audience members and quickly found its way onto TikTok, where it has since undergone the create ingenuity of Swifites and done what all TikTok videos are born to do: Go viral.
“Bad Blood” has now been turned into a full-blown remix, aptly titled “Bad Blood (Security Guard Version)” — or, if you’re a true Swiftie, “Bad Blood (Security Guard Version) (Taylor’s Version) (From The Eras Tour Vault)”. Allow us to bring you into the Swiftie fold, lest you crumble with confusion.
What is Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood (Security Guard Version)” and how did it originate?
It all started because one security guard was apparently extremely displeased about having to work that night while die-hard Swifties got to jump up and down, sing at the top of their lungs, and have the time of their lives. What would have normally gone overlooked was spotted by Taylor mid-song, and because Swifties have always had Taylor’s back, you best believe she also has theirs.
In the viral video, you can see Taylor pausing mid-song to lean over the side of the stage and yell at a security guard, “She’s fine! She wasn’t doing anything! Hey stop! Hey stop!”
The incident initially confused fans, as it was hard to discern what or who Taylor was talking about, but as the video climbed to over 20 million views, more videos from multiple angles started to emerge and it quickly became clear that Taylor had been trying to protect a fan from being unfairly disciplined.
It’s difficult to make out the indecent on camera given the crowd and the security guard are shrouded in darkness, but Taylor’s reaction to what she was seeing was clear as day: She was not pleased.
It didn’t take long before the remixed version of the song blew up on TikTok, becoming not just a catchy new soundbite but also paraphernalia for Swiftie T-shirts.
Say hello to the latest new trend. IYKYK.
The sound already has upwards of 2,000 videos attached to it, with multiple TikTok users, Swifties or not, using it to partake in the fun.
“It’s her, hi. She’s the problem” — the whole story, as told by the fan
As millions of Swifties began to learn of the altercation, several put out the bat signal for the fan(s) in question to share the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Eventually, she did.
As shown in the video above, the security guard Taylor shouted at had taken a grievance with the fan and her group of friends, choosing to launch a vendetta of anti-fun against them for the majority of the night. After Taylor yelled at him to stop, he was eventually escorted out of the stadium. And the fan? Well, she got free tickets to the next night’s showing.
A chance to become part of a viral song, a direct shout-out from Taylor, and free tickets? Not a bad day’s work if you ask me.
