It was entirely fitting given his status as one of the most polarizing media personalities on the planet that Piers Morgan once considered Donald Trump a close personal friend, but even the constantly-controversial host had to draw the line somewhere.
Morgan couldn’t condone the WWE Hall of Famer’s actions on the day of the infamous Capitol riots, ending a nauseatingly fawning relationship that stretched back years, if not decades. It was a surprisingly bold call from someone who loves the spotlight almost as much as they love creating contentiousness, meaning that nobody should be surprised that a planned interview with Stormy Daniels ended up falling through.
If there was one thing destined to rile up Trump supporters in the aftermath of his indictment, it would have been one of his highest-profile detractors and the source of his legal misfortunes – which came about entirely of his own doing, we should add – sitting down for a face-to-face “bombshell” interview with somebody who had personally disavowed the Home Alone 2 star as an acquaintance.
The fact the interview was canned a mere 20 minutes before it was scheduled to go live indicates that it must have been something fairly serious, but as unfortunate as it sounds to say, there was always going to be a chance the more fanatical element of Trump’s devoted support would try and cause trouble when Daniels and Morgan were poised to air even more dirty laundry so soon after the charges were brought against the perma-tanned terror.
