Priscilla Presley, as most of us know and her name would imply, is the former wife of famous singer Elvis Presley. Riley Keough, on the other hand, is Priscilla’s granddaughter, the daughter of her and Elvis’s only daughter Lisa Marie Presley. The family has reportedly not always gotten along, but it seems things have really come to a head over recent weeks.
The Presley family has had to endure many early deaths, beginning with family patriarch Elvis Presley, who died in 1977 at the young age of 42. Lisa Marie’s son Benjamin also died in July 2020 at age 27. Now, the Presley family has another premature death to add to the sad list, with Lisa Marie’s recent passing at the age of 54.
Yet, as sad as the news of Lisa Marie’s death has been, it seems the Presley family woes are far from over as Riley Keough and Priscilla Presley prepare to go to court over Lisa Marie’s will. A family friend told Entertainment Tonight that the two are no longer on speaking terms as Priscilla plans to move forward on contesting Lisa Marie’s 2016 will. The source continued to say that 33-year-old Riley “has been mourning the loss of her mother and is heartbroken to have to deal with a trust dispute with a family member.” But the feuding within the family is apparently nothing new.
According to an additional source reported to the New York Post, Lisa Marie and her mother Priscilla were not on good terms at the time of her death, and Lisa Marie would be “pissed” that her mother was attempting to gain access to her trust. In fact, Priscilla was not listed in the documented will at all. Throughout Lisa Marie’s life, the mother/daughter relationship had been plagued with rumors of discontent and disagreements. While money has been rumored to have been a point of contention between the two in the past, Priscilla is claiming the current contest of the will is based on something else.
Lisa Marie’s association with the Church of Scientology was no secret, as their website still holds her glowing testimony of their services. But later in life, Lisa Marie had a very public break with the organization beginning in 2014, saying: “I was slowly starting to self-destruct. They were taking my soul, my money, my everything.” The majority of the current controversy, however, apparently centers on Lisa Marie’s 2016 will and signature which her mother Priscilla claims is “inconsistent,” according to Page Six.
She is also insisting it’s possible that the entire will was forged. Could the Church of Scientology tie into these allegations? Or perhaps they are lodged at Lisa Marie’s ex-husband Michael Lockwood. In 2016, at the time her will was written, Lisa Marie and her husband were going through a very public divorce and her break from Scientology was reaching its zenith. It is possible that Priscilla is also throwing the accusation at her granddaughter Riley Keough, who is currently still associated with the Church of Scientology, and is named in the will. The details of the exact allegations have not been fully revealed, but as the two prepare to go to court, we are sure that the court reports, if nothing else, will provide insight.
