Former Nickelodeon star, Amanda Bynes was detained by LAPD and was placed on psychiatric hold over the weekend after it was reported that the actress could be a danger to herself.
According to TMZ, Bynes herself made called law enforcement and was sent back on a 5150 psychiatric hold. The actress was medically evaluated to determine if she needed further treatment. It was later revealed that she would be required, by law, to remain on a mandatory psychiatric hold for 72 hours.
This will be the second time that Bynes was sent to a mental health facility. She was previously released from a facility two months ago. The first time she was placed on psychiatric hold was back in March after she was seen in the streets of Los Angeles, naked. The actress told police back that she was “having a psychotic break.” Her parents claimed back then that Bynes was “doing great” lately and claimed that the breakdown was an “anomaly.”
In 2014, it was revealed that Bynes suffered from bipolar disorder, along with other mental health issues. At the same time, it was claimed that she was receiving help through therapy and medication. There was a debate regarding the reinstatement of Bynes’ conservatorship after it was terminated in 2022. The judge determined the reason for the termination was that Bynes no longer needed or required it. The actress’ attorney told the press that they looked forward to Bynes living like a normal citizen.
It’s currently unknown if Bynes will be released immediately after the 72 hours. But hopefully, she’ll receive all the treatment she deserves to help her get better.
